We had the pleasure of capturing Cara and Matt’s wedding celebration this summer at the John Joseph Inn just outside Ithaca, New York. It was a traditional ceremony that brought out the heritage of the bride and groom, as well as all the emotion that comes with the gravity of the day! We were amazed at the beauty of the families, the venue and the details of the event. Tara Reimer of Terra-Rosa added her touch to the details and ensured that the day went incredibly smooth. I met Scott and Elizabeth at Green Lakes State Park near Syracuse to do our engagement session just in time to catch the color in the leaves and some beautiful sunlight! As self-proclaimed nerds, they both professed to needing posing help and picture coaching, but as you can see, there was plenty of natural feel to the pictures (with very little help from me!). I had so much fun with these two, I can’t wait until the wedding! Scott and Elizabeth will be married next September… stay tuned!

Today I get to share with you Charles and Ali’s wedding pictures! From the very first day I met these two, I knew I would enjoy their day (I think it stems from the fact that Ali feels comfortable enough to call you “hun” during your first or second conversation!). On top of the fact that we had a lovely day at a wonderful location (Colgate Divinity School), Ali, Charles and the rest made for a stunning wedding party. As always, it is a privilege to be a part of such a special day in a couple’s life. Congrats guys!

What a privilege it was for me to travel up to Thousand Island Park to capture Chris and Tegan’s wedding! Wanting to make their day very personal, they both decided to have their wedding in the place that they grew up spending summers in the water. Matt and Clair- Sweet Briar Wedding Photographer- Geneseo NY

We photographers are a rather obsessive bunch… we obsess about gear, we obsess about back-ups for our gear. We obsess about locations, poses, and a multitude of other things. The ONE aspect of a wedding day that we obsess about the most has to be the weather! Especially on a day that we are going to be outside for all or part of the festivities, we are constantly checking the radar as we approach the big day.

As Matt and Claire’s wedding day came near, I was planning for the worst. The forecast was calling for thunderstorms in the area, and we were REALLY hoping to have the ceremony outdoors. If you have ever been to Sweet Briar in Geneseo you know that the view from the overlook where the ceremony is held really takes your breath away! We arrived in the morning for preparations and were met with some very ominous clouds…

We had a wonderful time hanging out with Claire and the bridesmaids while they had hair and make-up done. They were cautiously optimistic that the weather would cooperate! We followed them outside (in their bathrobes!) so that they could look at the decorations in the tent and were surprised with some untimely raindrops. We retreated indoors to finish preparing for the ceremony and as we did, the clouds quickly dissipated and we welcomed the sun. Nothing makes a bride happier than the sun appearing just before the ceremony!

The beautiful ceremony was followed by an amazing reception (with some really fun picture taking in between!). Please help me to congratulate Matt and Claire on their wedding! Thanks to Flower Power Decor for the beautiful bouquets!
